Pros and Cons of Independent UX/UI Design Projects
Pros:
Skill Development: Working on design projects independently has helped my skills in all aspects of UX/UI design, including research, wire-framing, prototyping, and visual design.
Creative Freedom: Working independently gives me the freedom to explore my own ideas, experiment with different design approaches, and be able to fully express my design vision and process.
Problem Solving: Independent projects provide the opportunity to tackle some real-life design problems as well as find creative solutions.
Cons:
Limited Feedback: A major challenge of working alone is the lack of diverse perspectives and feedback received from the team.
No Real-World Constraints: Standalone lacks the real-world constraints and considerations brought on by client projects, which may render the solution impractical or infeasible in a professional setting.
Validation: Because there is no external validation or customer’s input, there is no assurance that the entire design solution will meet actual user’s needs.
